Gryphon Men's Powerade Athlete of the Week

The Gryphon football team started their regular season this past week with two victories over Toronto (15-13) in the home opener and the York Lions (26-2) on Labour Day.  Fifth-year running back Nick FitzGibbon from Puslinch, Ont. had two solid performances for the Gryphons.  Against the Lions he ran for 167 yards on 22 carries and scored both of Guelph’s two touchdowns.  In the home opener against the Varsity Blues, the team captain scored one touchdown, tallying 125 yards on 26 carries and had three catches for 27 yards.  The Gryphons sit out this weekend as they prepare for the Queens Gaels on September 18 at Alumni Stadium.
