Hayley Howes has burst onto the scene in her first year with the Gryphons Women's Soccer team.  After scoring three goals over the span of five preseason games, she has carried that momentum into the regular season.  On Saturday (Aug. 29), the Windsor native broke the hearts of her hometown Lancers by scoring the game-winning-goal in the 86th minute to give the Gryphons a 1-0 victory.  Howes used her tremendous speed to blow by a Windsor defender before calmly sliding her shot past the Lancer keeper and secure the three points for the Gryphons.
 
The next day, against the Waterloo Warriors, the rookie forward was at it again scoring her fifth goal of the 2015 campaign, and second of the regular season, when she put the game out of reach by once again running onto a through ball and scoring the Gryphons final goal in a 4-1 victory over Waterloo.  Her combination of speed and power make her an ideal target up front and the highly touted recruit has more than lived up to the hype in the first few games of her Gryphon career. 
 
Thanks in large part to the play of their talented first year forward, the Gryphons Women's Soccer team is off to a perfect 2-0-0 start to the OUA regular season.  Hayley and company will now travel to London for a matchup with the Western Mustangs on Wednesday, September 2.
