Caitlin Beaton, Women’s Rugby
The Guelph Gryphons were victorious against the Western Mustangs (47-0) this past weekend largely due to the leadership and work rate of fifth-year captain Caitlin Beaton from Clavering, Ont.  Although not touching down any tries herself, the veteran powered through the Western back line often with two or three Mustangs on her back to put her team in a scoring position.  It was the first time in the season that the Gryphons faced any real attacking threat and the Mustangs had several chances to put points on the board.  The defensive line bent but did not break and Beaton's tackle count was one of the highest on the team.  Her ability to bring the level of play up for the entire team for the full 80 minutes is a rare quality.  She has unwavering confidence in herself and her teammates which has helped keep this team at a 5-0 record with only seven points scored against.
