The 2025-26 season marks Jason Kerr's 13th season coaching at the University of Guelph. Since arriving at U of G, Kerr has transformed the Guelph Gryphons into a perennial track and field powerhouse. Kerr has led Gryphon teams to 16x OUA team championships and 14x U SPORTS National championships (women: 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 / men: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024). Kerr has been recognized as U SPORTS Coach of the Year 7x over this period.
Leading the sprints & hurdles event group, Kerr has coached dozens of national champions across all event disciplines, including collegiate and national record holders. At the 2020 national U SPORTS championship, Guelph Gryphons sprinters made history as the first program to win all men’s and women’s sprint and relay events.
Nationally, Kerr has coached Canadian national outdoor champions in every sprint and hurdle event, as well as three national record setting 4x100m relay teams at the U18 and U23 level. At the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials, Kerr coached national champions Zoe Sherar (400m) and Craig Thorne (110mH), as well as double medalist Jacqueline Madogo (100m & 200m).
Internationally, Kerr has coached athletes to medal performances at World Junior, World Youth, NACAC, Pan Am, Pan Am Junior, and Para Pan Am Championship events. He has coached numerous Gryphon student-athletes who have competed at World Athletics Indoor and Outdoor Championships, as well as three Olympians who competed at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Prior to his time in Guelph, Kerr completed a Masters Degree in Kinesiology at Western University.
Outside of coaching, Kerr and his wife Cassandra are proud parents to a beautiful daughter, Violet Kerr.
