  • Title
Track & Field Assistant Coach – Sprints, Hurdles & Combined Events

Angela Whyte is a 3-time Olympian in the sport of track and field, competing in the 100m hurdles at the 2004, 2008, and 2016 games. She is also a 3-time Commonwealth Games medallist, a 2-time Pan American Games medallist and has represented Canada at seven World Athletics (formerly IAAF) World Championships. Beyond the hurdles, Angela has also competed in the heptathlon, competing for Canada in that event at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Angela is also no stranger to coaching. She coached at the NCAA Division 1 level for 10 years. She started as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Idaho in the sprints and hurdles and worked her way to assistant coach, taking on the jumps. With that move, Angela helped the men’s team win the 2014 WAC Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships, and the Vandal men and women sweep the 2014 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships. She then moved and became of member of the Washington State University Track & Field coaching staff from the fall of 2014 to 2016, before moving back to Canada.

Angela is used to balancing many roles. During her years at the University of Idaho she was a coach, an internationally competing athlete, and a graduate student. In 2014 Angela earned a Master of Science degree majoring in Movement and Exercise Sciences with an emphasis in Sport Psychology. She used the knowledge gained to create and implement a mental training program with the Washington State University Track & Field program.
