The 2023 season marks Ryan Sheahan's 5th season as head coach of the University of Guelph football program. With the 2020 campaign cancelled due to COVID, the 2023 season will mark Coach Sheahan's fourth season in charge of on-field action for the Gryphon football team. In his three season of on-field competition at U of G (2019, 2021, & 2022), Sheahan has led the Gryphons to a pair of playoff appearances, while producing an OUA Rookie of the Year, President's Trophy Recipient, nine U SPORTS All-Canadians and 19 OUA All-Stars.

Sheahan, a native of Montreal, Quebec, was named the 17th head coach in program history in January of 2019, after having spent the previous four seasons (2015-2018) at the University of Calgary where served as the Dinos Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator.

Additional:
Ryan’s father, Pat, served as head coach of the Queen’s Gaels from 2000-2018, with the two working together on the same coaching staff during the Gaels’ 2009 Vanier Cup-winning season. In 2022, the two were re-united in Guelph, with Pat Sheahan joining Ryan's staff as the offensive line coach for the Gryphons.
