Coach MacDonald is entering his sixth year coaching the Offensive Line at the University of Guelph. He has also had six years coaching experience as the Offensive Line Coach at Notre Dame High School in Burlington, Ontario and fourteen years coaching in the Burlington Stampeder Rep Program as a Head Coach and Offensive Line coach. He has served as an Oline coach for Team Ontario and many All Star teams.
Coach MacDonald believes in preparation, attention to detail, intensity and commitment. Football is a game of strategy, skill, self-sacrifice and passion. He believes these are the skill sets needed to succeed on the football field as well as in the classroom and the working world. He is known as a strong motivator and teacher. He coached Gryphon alumni and current CFL Olineman Jake Piotrowski of the Montreal Allouettes and Cam Thorn of the B.C. Lions.
MacDonald received the Ontario Football Alliance Senior Coach of the Year award in 2007 and continues to challenge his players and demand nothing but their maximum effort, every drill, every rep, every play, no exceptions. Coach MacDonald has won two Ontario Tier 1 Provincial High School Championships and nine Provincial Rep Football Championships. He has a BSc. in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo where he played football and was the Team Captain. He is a retired member of the RCMP having served for 27 years in various parts of Canada.
