John is entering his fifth season with the Gryphons and his 14th season as a CIS Coach. 

John played quarterback and receiver at York University from 1997-2002, where he was an Academic All Canadian and team captain, winning the first playoff game in school history in 2002.  He coached receivers at York University from 2002- 2007.  In the summer of 2007 he moved across town to the University of Toronto staff as the QB coach.  Following that first season, he was hired full time in 2009, and was the Recruiting Coordinator and LB coach for that season.  In 2010, in addition to his recruiting duties, he went back to the offense side of the ball as the Offensive Coordinator for the next two seasons. 

He joined the Gryphons staff in winter 2012 as the QB coach and Toronto area regional scout.  John also has an extensive rep football past, spending 8 years with the Etobicoke Eagles of the OVFL as the offensive coordinator, head coach, and defensive coordinator among other roles with the club.  He won a provincial championship in 2006, the first of 3 consecutive conference finals as the head coach of the club.  He currently coaches defense at Don Bosco Secondary and won the Golden Horseshoe Bowl in 2013.

He has also played key roles with Team Ontario over the years. He was the offensive coordinator for Team Ontario East in 2005 and 2011 and the head coach in 2012.  

John is a high school teacher with the Toronto Catholic District School Board and lives in North Etobicoke with his wife Marlene and his daughter Alaina.
