The 2021-22 season marks Janet's 16th season as head coach of Gryphon figure skating program. Janet and the Gryphons won the OUA title in back-to-back years in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, and finished with a silver medal in 2010-2011. With a majority rookie team, the Gryphons had to rebuild and with hard work and some great new talent, the Gryphons won the OUA title again in 2014. Janet was named the OUA Coach of the Year for the 4th time in her Gryphon coaching career.

Janet began as Head Coach for the University of Guelph Figure Skating Team in the 2005-2006 season. She took on a scarcely known team with little attention and transformed the skaters into consistent medalists and powerful competitors for the University of Guelph, In 2008, she was named OUA Coach of the Year as the Gryphons won the silver medal at the OUA Championships on home ice. In 2009, Janet led the Gryphons to Gold and an OUA title which hadn’t been captured since 1994 and then followed it up in 2010 with another title and then made it a trio of OUA titles in 2014. The Gryphons will hosted the OUA championships in 2015 and were ready to do whatever it took to win another back to back title on home ice. Gold eluded the Gryphons and they would settle for another OUA Silver. The team is in another rebuilding phase for the 2017-18 season, but with some strong rookies working hard to become OUA All Stars, the team is shaping up for a great season.

Janet graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At Waterloo, she skated for the Warriors. During her amateur figure skating career, Janet was a member of the Canadian National Team for 4 years, capturing Canada’s silver medal in 1980.

Janet is a professional Figure skating and Power skating coach who coaches at the Guelph Figure Skating Club as well as at the University of Guelph.
