As a former goalkeeper for the York Lions from 1992-1997, Sarah Forbes backstopped York to 3 OUA outdoor titles, 5 OUA Indoor titles and a CIS Silver medal. During her tenure, she was a 4-time OUA All-Star, 5-time OUA Indoor All-Star and a 3-time CIS All-Canadian. She was named the Gail Wilson CIS Player of the Year in 1997, a CIS Tournament All-Star twice and York University's Athlete of the Year in 1998. Her accomplishments are well noted internationally where she has appeared in the most games ever as a goalkeeper for Canada's National Team with 143 appearances and sits third in all time appearances by any player. She was a member of the Canadian Senior Team for 16 years and a member of Canada's Junior National Team for 5 years. She has played in 3 Commonwealth Games, 3 Pan American Games, one which the team earned a bronze medal, 2 Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, a World Cup and numerous other international tournaments.

In 1998, she joined the York Lions coaching staff as an assistant until 2006, she then took a leave to train with the National team for the 2008 Olympic Qualifying Tournament where she was subsequently named Goalkeeper of the Tournament and then returned for one more year with the Lions in 2008. A certified level 3 coach, Forbes was also the Vice President of Women's High Performance for Field Hockey Ontario from 2001-2004 and sat on the Field Hockey Canada Board of Directors as the Athlete Representative for 9 years. An enthusiastic coach who enjoys running specialty goalkeeping clinics for high schools, university programs and provincial teams she enjoys teaching with innovative methods that allows the goalkeeper to enjoy the training and see measured growth and improvement. As an expert in technical and tactical play, she is an asset to young goalkeepers just learning the game and also seasoned veterans that are now part of Canada's National Program.

Sarah graduated with a specialized honours degree in Kinesiology and has since gone on to complete a diploma in Paramedicine and currently works as a paramedic for the city of Toronto.
