Christin Dickenson started the head coaching position at the University of Guelph in May, 2013. She joins the Gryphons after spending three seasons with her alma mater, McMaster University as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball team. She also spent two years with the National Coaching Institute (NCI) with Jay Triano, head senior men's national team coach and former Toronto Raptors coach, as her mentor coach. Prior to her stint in Hamilton, Dickenson spent two years as the assistant coach for the University of Regina Women’s Basketball team from 2008-10. In her first year she helped coach the team to a CIS silver medal and Canada West conference runner-up finish. The next year the Cougars, once again finished as Canada West silver medalists. In Regina she also coached the U15 Women’s Team for Basketball Saskatchewan. She spent one season serving as the head women’s basketball coach for the University of Waterloo Warriors from 2007-08. Dickenson also spent time on the women’s basketball coaching staff at McMaster University for a season in 2006-07, when the Marauders earned an OUA runners-up finish.
A native of Hamilton, Ont., Dickenson’s career as a player started in high school at Westdale Secondary where she helped lead her team to a AAAA OFSAA gold medal in 1997. She also played for Team Ontario from 1996-1998 where she won a national title and silver medal. Her four-year university career started in 2000-01 playing for the McMaster Marauders. During this time she was a two-time team captain, two-time OUA all-star and was named the OUA MVP in 2004. In 2002-03 her team won the OUA title. After her playing days at McMaster she spent two years playing professional basketball in Sweden and England.
Dickenson graduated from McMaster University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. She also holds a level III NCCP coaching certification.
