• ONT1 is the Guelph Gryphons, who not only will serve as tournament host, but who have also earned the title as the highest seeded OUA team after earning an OUA silver medal
   
• ONT2 is OUA bronze medalists, the McMaster Marauders
   
• WC1 is the UBC Thunderbirds, winners of the UBC/UVic British Columbia Rugby Union (BCRU) game which took place Sept. 23, 2017
   
• WC2 is the UVic Vikes, winners of the Hindson Cup University Rugby Tournament. UVic won 72-0 over UBC-Okanagan on October 29, to book a spot in Guelph for the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship.
   
• QUE1 is the RSEQ champion, the Concordia Stingers, who beat the ETS Piranhas 35-7 on Sunday, Nov. 12
   
• MAR1 is the Maritime University Champion, the UPEI Panthers, who defeated St. FX on Nov. 11 to win the Maritime title.
