GRYPHONS CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

The University of Guelph is home to some of the most successful varsity programs in the history of Canadian university sport.

Dating all the way back to the year 1900, Guelph Athletics has undergone several name changes; from the “O.A.V.C. Aggies,” to the “Redmen” and, finally, in October of 1967, “Gryphons” was officially adopted as the nickname of the intercollegiate teams at the University of Guelph.

During the 2025-26 season, Gryphon teams accounted for three national championships (men's rugby, men's lacrosse and women's track and field) as well as five conference titles.
