GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons women's rugby team started the 2026 OUA season with a 40-7 road victory over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5) from St. Catharines. The Gryphons conceded the opening try of the match but would take control of the match from that point forward, scoring the final 40 points of the match to move to 1-0 on the season. Five different Gryphons recorded tries on the afternoon with
Madison Donnelly,
Heather Armstrong,
Halle Woodcock and
Elora-Danan Bain all scoring for the Gryphons, as well as fourth-year winger Addy Holmes scoring the team's first two tries of the match.
Amanda Sarabura was successful on five of her team's converts in the victory.
The Gryphons (1-0) will return to Varsity Field for their home opener on Friday night (Sept. 11) when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-0) with game time scheduled for 7pm.
