Now, the No. 6-nationally ranked Gryphons will crossover to the OUA's East Division for their next opponent, with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks set to battle the Gryphons in a best-of-three confernce semifinal series. The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks will arrive in Guelph on Wednesday night for Game 1, fresh off of a pair of upsets. The No. 5-seeded Ridgebacks knocked off the No. 2-seeded Nipissing Lakers in the play-in game, and then took down the OUA East's No. 1-seed Queen's Gaels in their quarterfinal series. Ontario Tech won both road games in Kingston in their 2-games-to-1 series win over the Gaels, helping the Ridgebacks make school history by reaching the OUA semifinals for the first time in program history. The Gryphons will have home-ice advantage as the higher seed in this series, with Guelph winning both regular season meetings.
Katherine Heard and
Maeve Sutherland-Case have continued their strong play into the playoffs for Guelph as both forwards each have a pair of goals and assists to their names. Gryphons fifth-year goalie,
Martina Fedel, fresh off representing Italy at the Winter Olympics, was sensational in the Guelph net, making 45 saves in her team's Game 3 triple overtime win over Waterloo. Zoe McGee has been outstanding in the Ridgebacks net this postseason as she has 3 wins to go along with a 1.64 GAA and .949 save percentage. Ontario Tech is led up front by Emily Harrison and Miliana Perri who each led the team with 16 points in the regular season.
