TORONTO, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons figure skating team finished in 5th place at the 2026 OUA Figure Skating Championships in Toronto. The two-day conference championship event (March 10 to 11) took place at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, with TMU serving as hosts for a second consecutive year. The Gryphons finished with 49 total points, two points off of a podium finish in 5th-place, out of nine universities across the province.
Guelph made five trips to the podium (3 silvers and 2 bronzes), capping off their OUA championship with a silver medal in the team synchro. Team captain
Catherine Carle led the Gryphons with a pair of silver medals in the Novice Women's Short Program and in the Freeskate Fours alongside
Sarah Capela,
Stephanie Kao and
Tanvi Pannu.
Megan Brown and
Angelina MacAluso picked up Guelph's first medal of the championships, taking home a bronze medal in the Star 8/9 Couple Dance (Harris Tango/Blues) while
Logan Baker and
Jillian Holysh rounded out the Gryphon podium finishers with a bronze medal in the Star 10 Couple Dance (Quickstop/Argentine Tango). The Toronto Varsity Blues took home the OUA Championship with 106 points, narrowly edging out the Western Mustangs by two points as Western finished with 104 points. McMaster and Waterloo finished tied with 51 points in third place but the Marauders ended up with the bronze medal as their one gold medal in couples artistic proved to be the difference in the tiebreaker. The Gryphons finished two points behind in fifth place with 49 total points.
