GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons women's basketball team bounced back on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 8), knocking off the Algoma Thunderbirds to earn a weekend home split after dropping Friday night's (Feb. 6) matchup to No. 3-ranked TMU Bold. The win gets the Gryphons closer to the OUA West Division crown and a bye to the quarterfinals in the playoffs as their record improves to 16-5 on the regular season. Guelph currently remain in a tie for first place in the OUA West with the Windsor Lancers as they hold the tiebreaker advantage over Windsor with a better point differential in the head-to-head after splitting both matchups.
Friday, Feb. 6, 2026 | Gryphons Fall to No. 3-ranked TMU Bold
On Friday night, the Gryphons hosted the TMU Bold from the Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre where they fell to the No. 3-ranked team in the country 83-60. Shooting from the field from the Bold was the difference in the game as they shot 52.3% from the field compared to the Gryphons 34.3% as they were unable to find stops on the defensive end. The Bold were led by Myriam Kone's 22 points and Catrina Garvey's 20 points.
Hannah Bourdon led the Gryphs with 18 points and 5 steals while
Christina Morra finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026 | Gryphons Score Season-High 94 Points in Home Win over Algoma
The Gryphons got out to a blistering start shooting from field as it led them to a 94-55 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Sunday afternoon in the team's final regular season home game. Guelph led wire-to-wire in the win with a dominant display on the offensive end, scoring a season-high 94 point as they shot a 46.7% from the field and made a season best 14 three-pointers. They also scored a season-high 33 points and 56 first half points, carrying the Gryphs to their 16th win of the season.
Hannah Bourdon was efficient in the win, tying her season-high with 30 points on 12-16 shooting from the field, making all 6 of her three-pointers as she had 8 rebounds and 5 assists as well.
Christina Morra picked up her 10th double-double on the season, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Alexis Wright and
Keryl Ousey each reached double-digits with 11 points each.
The weekend split keeps the Gryphons in the first place in the OUA West Division with a 16-5 regular season record. Guelph wraps up their regular season on Friday night (Feb. 13) when they head to Toronto to take on the York Lions.
