GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons men's volleyball team picked up a pair of home wins over the TMU Bold on Jan. 30 and 31 at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre. With the wins, Guelph's record on the season improves to 10-6, with just two games remaining in the 2025-26 regular season schedule.
Game 1 (Friday, Jan. 30) | Guelph 3 – TMU 1 (25-11, 25-19, 17-25 & 25-23)
On Friday night (Jan. 30), the Gryphons men's volleyball team welcomed the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold to the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, for the first of two weekend matchups. The Gyphons picked up an important four-set victory, defeating TMU by set scores of 25-11, 25-19, 17-25 & 25-23. Gryphons second-year outside hitter,
Killian Donovan (Sydney, Australia) spearheaded the Gryphon attack, with the management major racking up a team-high 20 points (15 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks). With the win, the Gryphons improved to 9-6 on the season, while TMU dropped to 3-14.
Game 2 (Saturday, Jan. 31) | Guelph 3 – TMU 1 (25-16, 23-25, 26-24 & 32-30)
On Saturday, the Gryphons and TMU were back at it, with a 6pm matchup in a game that also marked Guelph's "Alumni Day" game. The Gryphons came out on top in four sets for a second consecutive night, with Saturday's match providing plenty of tightly-contested sets. After splitting the first two sets, Guelph would edge out TMU in entertaining 26-24 and 32-30 sets to close out the victory.
Killian Donovan was excellent once again on Saturday, racking up a team-high 22 points (21 kills), while
Liam Kinahan poured in 16 points (15 kills). Second-year setter,
Tian Harcevic, finished the night with 51 assists to go along with 13 digs. The Gryphons (10-6) now have four games remaining in their 20-game regular season schedule. Guelph will head to St. Catharines next weekend for games versus the Brock Badgers on Friday (Feb. 6) and Saturday (Feb. 7). The Gryphons will then wrap up their 2025-26 OUA regular season with a pair of home games versus the Waterloo Warriors on Friday night (Feb. 13) and Saturday night (Feb. 14). The OUA playoffs are set to get underway on Friday, February 20 with the OUA quarterfinal round.
