On Saturday night, the Gryphons hosted the OUA West leading TMU Bold at the Gryphon Centre Arena. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026 | Andrew Ness' 50 Save Performance Keeps Gryphons at Bay

The Gryphons were back on the ice in Waterloo on Sunday when they took on the Laurier Golden Hawks. It would be the Golden Hawks who'd get on the board first on the goal from Kai Strothers, midway through the opening period. Guelph would apply plenty of pressure on the Laurier net throughout the game but were unable to beat Andrew Ness. The Golden Hawks would make it a 2-0 game on the power play goal from Thomas Lenart in the third before Max-Antoine Melancon added another one later in the period. The Gryphons would end Ness' shutout bid on the Anthony Tabak power play goal with 3:12 left in the period but an empty netter from Laurier would seal the 4-1 win for the hosts. Laurier goalie Andrew Ness faced plenty of Gryphon pressure at his net and kept Guelph's scoring at bay, stopping 50 of his 51 shots he saw. Olivier Ciarlo in the Gryphon net was fantastic despite the loss, making 37 saves.
