GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons women's soccer team got their 2025 campaign off to a flying start with a decisive 3-0 home win over the Windsor Lancers on Friday night (Aug. 29) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex in the opening game of the 2025 OUA regular season schedule.
The Gryphons opened the scoring in the 21st minute, with last year's team Rookie of the Year,
Rebecca Draeger, starting off her sophomore season with the first goal of the new season, with the assist provided by U SPORTS All-Canadian,
Elise Bell.
Before half, the Gryphons would extend their lead to 2-0, with a goal from team captain,
Olivia Rizakos (Toronto, ON). Midway through the 2nd half, Guelph would put the game out of reach with fourth-year fullback,
Haley Ward (London, ON) finding the back of the net to put the Gryphons up 3-0.
The Gryphons (1-0-0) will now head to Windsor on Sunday afternoon for the return leg of the home-and-home with the Lancers (0-1-0).
