GUELPH, Ont. – On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) released the 2025 football schedule. The Gryphon football team will officially get their 2025 season underway on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at home, as they play host to the reigning Yates Cup champion Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks with a 6pm kickoff at the University of Guelph's Alumni Stadium.
The 2025 OUA football season will once again consist of an eight-game regular season schedule, with the four
home games for the Gryphons in 2025 seeing Laurier (Aug. 23), Ottawa (Sept. 13), Queen's (Oct. 4) and York (Oct. 18) all make trips to U of G's Alumni Stadium. The 2025 edition of the University of Guelph's Homecoming football game is set to take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 against the Queen's Gaels.

road schedule will see the team play under the lights on several occasions, with back-to-back night games scheduled as the Gryphons travel to London to face the Western Mustangs (Saturday, Aug. 31 - 7pm), followed by a Week 3 road trip to Windsor for a night game versus the Lancers (Saturday, Sept. 6 - 7pm). After hosting the Ottawa Gee-Gees on September 13, the Gryphons will close out the month of September with two straight road games as they make the short trip to Hamilton to take on the McMaster Marauders in Week 5 (Sept. 20) before wrapping up their 2025
road schedule in the nation's capital with a Week 6 matchup versus the Carleton Ravens (Sept. 27). After the Gryphons Homecoming matchup versus Queen's on October 4, the team will enjoy their Bye Week, which falls during Week 8 (Thanksgiving Day weekend), before returning to action on their home field for the regular season finale versus York on October 18.
With 11 different schools across the province making up the OUA football conference, each season there are two teams within the conference who the Gryphons will not face during regular season play. The non-combatants for the Gryphons during the 2025 football regular season are the Waterloo Warriors and Toronto Varsity Blues. The 2025 OUA football
playoffs kickoff on October 25, with the Yates Cup (OUA championship game) scheduled for November 8, 2025. The winner of the 2025 Yates Cup will head west to face the Canada West champion in the 2025 Mitchell Bowl. The national championship game will also take place out west, with the University of Regina set to host the 60th Vanier Cup at Mosaic Stadium on November 22, 2025.
