GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons men's hockey team extended their win streak to six games over the weekend when they picked up victories over the Toronto Varsity Blues (Nov. 14) and Waterloo Warriors (Nov. 16).
Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 | Gryphons Battle Back to Earn Shootout Victory
On Friday night from Varsity Arena, the Gryphons took on the Varsity Blues in a high scoring matchup as they were able to come through with a 6-5 shootout victory. Guelph never led at any point of the game as they were able to erase a 2-0 deficit with goals from
Anthony Tabak and
Nolan Dann in the second period. The Gryphs kept battling back in the third period, scoring three times with each goal drawing Guelph back level after the Blues scored to regain their lead including a power play marker from
Nathan Allensen which tied it up for the fourth time at 5-5. The Gryphons and Varsity Blues needed a shootout to settle this one as
Griffin Wilson scored the lone shootout goal to give the visitors the 6-5 win and the bonus point.
Olivier Ciarlo was fantastic in the Guelph net making 38 saves and stopped all three shots in the shootout in the victory.
Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 | Gryphons Score Four Unanswered Goals in Third to Extend Win Streak
The Gryphons returned home to the Gryphon Centre for the final time before the winter break as they took on the Waterloo Warriors. Guelph got off to a quick start as
Griffin Wilson scored his fourth of the season to give his side the early first period 1-0 lead. Waterloo would take the lead in the middle frame, scoring twice as Nate Baird's power play goal with 40 seconds remaining in the period gave the visitors a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes. Guelph would seize control of the game in the final period as Nolan DeGurse and
Nolan Dann scored 1:55 apart to give the hosts the 3-2 lead less than four minutes into the third.
Dylan Hudon added a power play goal and Dann scored his second of the game to seal the sixth straight win for the hosts. The Gryphs outshot the Warriors 42-20 in the game and 13-7 in their four-goal outburst in the third period.
Olivier Ciarlo wasn't as busy in the Gryphons goal like he was in Toronto on Friday night as he made 17 saves for his 6
th win of the season.
The Gryphons (8-3-1) will head on the road for a pair of games this week when they take on the Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night (Nov. 19) before making the trip to London for a matchup with the Western Mustangs on Saturday night (Nov. 22).
