WSCR RECAP: No. 8-ranked Gryphons Hand No. 4-ranked Western Their First Loss of 2025

GUELPH, Ont. - Friday night (Oct. 3, 2025) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex, the No. 8-ranked Gryphons women's soccer team defeated the No. 4-ranked Western Mustangs, 1-0, with fourth-year forward Olivia Brown (Guelph, ON) scoring the game-winning goal in the 6th minute of play. The early goal proved to be all the Gryphosn would need, with Jo Mazier recording the clean sheet for the Gryphons, who improve to 8-1-1 (wins-losses-draws) on the season, while also handing the Mustangs (7-1-1) their first loss of the 2025 season. With the win, the Gryphons (25 pts) move three points ahead of Western (22 pts) in the OUA West Division standings, with the Mustangs still having a game-in-hand. The top two teams in the division will meet up again on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 5) in London, with kickoff set for 1pm at Western University.
