LONDON, Ont. - The Gryphons men's volleyball team officially got their 2025-26 OUA regular season schedule underway this weekend (Oct. 24 & 25) with a pair of road games in London against the Western Mustangs. Friday night (Oct. 24) at Western's Alumni Hall, the Gryphons lost in straight sets 21-25, 21-25 & 20-25. On Saturday night (Oct. 25), the Gryphons dropped a tight opening set (23-25) before bouncing back with a convincing 2nd set win (25-16), only to see the Mustangs close out the match in 4-sets by taking the 3rd set 25-17 and 4th set 25-21.
Gryphons fifth-year outside hitter
Killian Donovan (Waterloo, ON) led the team in scoring both nights, with the 6-foot-4 human kinetics major recording a team-high 12 kills in each game. On Saturday night, the Gryphons had four players score in double figures, with
Braeden Sears (9 kills, 1 ace),
Finn Hughes (9 kills, 2 blocks) and
Nathan Peters (7 kills, 2 blocks) all contributing.
The Gryphons (0-2) will return to action on Friday, November 7 when they host the Trent Excalibur at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre in their 2025-26 home opener.
