GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons women's soccer team defeated the Queen's Gaels, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25, 2025) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex in an OUA semifinal matchup. With the convincing victory, the Gryphons book a spot in the OUA title game (Nov. 1 at Toronto) and also clinch a berth to the 2025 U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championships in Hamilton (Nov. 6-9 at McMaster University).
The Gryphons, the No. 1-seed in the OUA West, and the Queen's Gaels, the No. 2-seed in the OUA East, were scoreless until the 37th minute when
Elise Bell of the Gryphons was fouled inside the 18-yard box giving Guelph a chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot. Gryphons fourth-year forward,
Olivia Brown (Guelph, ON) would make no mistake from the spot, with a perfectly place penalty just under the crossbar putting the hosts in front, 1-0, heading into halftime.
Early in the 2nd half, Guelph would double their lead when second-year winger,
Ella Cahill, ran onto a through ball, and floated a shot over Queen's goalkeeper Lily Bouvier to give the Gryphons a 2-0 lead.

In the 83rd minute,
Elise Bell would skip past a Queen's defender before sending a cross to
Rebecca Draeger, whose first-time finish made it 3-0 Guelph. Gryphons fifth-year defender,
Jasmine Burke, would cap the scoring with a 90th minute goal, sending Guelph to a resounding 4-0 OUA semifinal victory over the Gaels. The Gryphons now sit one win away from what would be the second OUA title in program history, with the only other OUA banner in Gryphons women's soccer history coming during the 2017 season. The Gryphons will head to the University of Toronto on Saturday, November 1 to face the Varsity Blues, who defeated the Western Mustangs, 1-0, in the other OUA semifinal on Saturday afternoon.
