GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons women's hockey team played a pair of road games over the weekend where they picked up shutout wins over the Windsor Lancers on Friday (Oct. 17) and the Western Mustangs on Saturday (Oct. 18) as they open the season with four straight wins.

On Friday night, third year goalie
Sophie Helfenstein continued her brilliance in the Gryphon net, stopping all 35 shots she faced in her team's 3-0 win in Windsor. The molecular biology and genetics major made her third start of the season, earned her second shutout of the season and her 7
th career OUA shutout. The Guelph power play was the main catalyst in the win as
Deija Houston and Jaydn Calder each had a goal on the power play to give the Gryphs a 2-0 lead. Rachel Brazeau added an empty net goal to clinch the 3-0 road win for Guelph.
Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 | Gryphons Extend Shutout Streak to Three Straight Games
The Gryphons continued their excellence on the defensive end on Saturday night in London as they blanked the Western Mustangs 4-0 for their fourth straight win.
Martina Fedel made her first start of the season and she was sharp between the pipes, making 17 saves for her first shutout of the season as she continues to impress in her outstanding Gryphon career, recording her 20
th career OUA shutout. The power play of Guelph continued to stay hot as
Reese Coffey scored her second goal of the season on the power play in the first period to give her side the lead. Katy McKenna,

Katherine Heard all scored their first goals of the season in the victory.
The Gryphons (4-0) return home for a pair of home games as they'll battle with the Western Mustangs on Friday night (Oct. 24) in their second and final meeting of the regular season before the Nipissing Lakers come to Guelph for a Saturday night (Oct. 25) matchup.
