GUELPH, Ont. - Friday night (Sept. 6) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex, the No. 10-ranked Gryphons women's soccer team exploded for 12 goals in a 12-0 win over the Algoma Thunderbirds. Eight different players found the back of the net for the Gryphons, with three players scoring multiple goals (
Olivia Brown - hat trick,
Christina Gomes and
Lauren Bruce - 2 goals each).
Olivia Brown, the reigning Gryphon Athlete of the Week, now leads the OUA with 6 goals through 3 games this season, helping the No. 10-nationally ranked Gryphons improve to 3-0-0 on the season. Algoma, meanwhile, fall to 0-3-0 (wins-losses-draws) on the season, with the Thunderbirds having also suffered a pair of 4-1 defeats to the Western Mustangs to start their season.
The Gryphons will return to action next Friday (Sept. 13) with a home matchup versus the York Lions.
