TORONTO, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons women's basketball team picked up a statement road win on Wednesday night (Nov. 6) at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, knocking off the No. 8-ranked team in the country in the TMU Bold, with Guelph earning a 59-51 victory. The win extends Guelph's win streak to four, with the Gryphons now sitting atop the OUA West Division standins at 4-1 on the season, while the previously undefeated TMU Bold suffer their first loss of the 2024-25 season and fall to 4-1 on the season. It was the defence of the Gryphons which led them to victory on Wedneday night in Toronto, with Guelph limiting TMU to just 20.3% shooting from the field in the game. In a tightly-contested matchup throughout the night, it would be Gryphons fourth-year guard
Julia Colavecchia who would be the catalyst for the team in 3rd quarter. With TMU leading 37-30, Colavecchia would connect from the beyond the arc on a pair of occasions to trim the deficit down to 39-36 to keep the Gryphs within striking distance.

The Niagara Falls, Ontario native would score 11 of her 17 points in the 3rd quarter, including connecting from beyond the arc on three different occasions. After the offensive spark from Colavecchia, the Gryphons would lean on their team defence down the stretch, limiting the Bold to just 10 points in the 4th quarter while only allowing one made basket from TMU in the final eight minutes of the game. Guelph closed out the game on a 14-3 run to seal the win, handing the No. 8-ranked team in the country their first loss of the 2024-25 season.
To go along with
Julia Colavecchia's game-high 17 points,
