WBB RECAP: No. 10-ranked Gryphons Pick Up Convincing Road Win at Lakehead

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Friday night (Nov. 15) in Thunder Bay, Ontario, the No. 10-ranked Guelph Gryphons women's basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a convincing 70-46 road win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves (1-6). For the Gryphons, who made their debut in the national rankings a week ago as the No. 10-ranked team in U SPORTS, the Friday night victory over Lakehead extended the team's win streak to six, matching the Carleton Ravens (6-0) for the longest current win streak in the conference.

All 12 players on the Gryphons saw floor time on Friday night at Lakehead, with Julia Colavecchia (12 points) and Macy Weber (12 points) the lone Gryphons to reach double digits in scoring. Hannah Bourdon recorded a team-high 13 rebounds, while Renee Armstrong chipped in with 7 assists and 3 steals. The Gryphons led by 16 at half, and added to their lead after the break, outscoring Lakehead 18-6 in the 3rd quarter.

The Gryphons (6-1) will now turn their attention to an upcoming road trip to the nation's capital next weekend (Nov. 22 and 23) where they will square off against two of the top teams in the OUA. The Gryphons return to action on Friday, November 22 when they travel to Carleton University to face the undefeated, No. 6-ranked Ravens (6-0). On Saturday, November 23, the Gryphons will once again be in action in Ottawa, as they travel to the University of Ottawa to face the No. 2-ranked team in the country in the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Both games are scheduled for 6pm and can be seen live online at oua.tv.
