THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Friday night (Nov. 15) in Thunder Bay, the Gryphons men's basketball team (1-6) suffered an 85-64 loss to the undefeated Lakehead Thunderwolves (7-0).

The Gryphons were led by third-year forward,
Eric Armstrong, who scored a career-high 28 points in the loss. The 19-year-old management economics and finance major from New Hamburg, Ontario finished 12-24 from the field, 2-5 from beyond the arc and added 9 rebounds. But despite a strong start, which saw the Gryphons leading 20-19 after the opening quarter, the host Thunderwolves would answer back with strong performances in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to take a 17-point lead to the 4th quarter. Lakehead has four players score in double figures, led by Nathan Bilamu's 20-points. For the Gryphons, second-year forward,
Vytas Nausedas (Mississauga, ON), was the only other Gryphon to reach double digits in scoring with 10 points off the bench (5-9 shooting).
The Gryphons (1-6) will now prepare for back-to-back road games in Ottawa next weekend, as they face the No. 7-ranked Carleton Ravens on Friday night (Nov. 22) followed by a Saturday night (Nov. 23) matchup at the No. 8-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees. Both games can be seen live online at oua.tv.
