OTTAWA, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team continued their undefeated 2024 season on Wednesday night in Ottawa in quarterfinal action of the 2024 Canadian University Men's Rugby Championships, hosted by the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.

The OUA champion Gryphons entered the eight-team national championship tournament as the No. 2-seed in the field, and squared off against the tournament host Gee-Gees on Wednesday night at Matt Anthony Field in the nation's capital. The Gryphons were able to pick up a convincing, 42-12 victory, over the Quebec conference finalist Gee-Gees, giving Guelph a spot in the national semifinals on Friday.

Guelph, national bronze medalists in each of the past two seasons, now advance to the national semifinal where they will meet a familiar foe in the Queen's Gaels. The Gaels booked their spot in the semi's earlier in the day on Wednesday thanks to their 26-24 quarterfinal upset over the University of Victoria Vikes. Now, just one week after meeting in the OUA Championship game, the Gryphons and Gaels will square off once more, this time with a spot in the national championship game on the line.
