GUELPH, Ont. -
Donavin Milloy (offence),
Devynn Cromwell (defence), and
Kyle Simon-Guerin (special teams) have been named Gryphon Football 'Players of the Game' following the team's 41-18 road loss to the Windsor Lancers on Sunday, September 3.
Donavin Milloy (Offence)
Second-year running back
Donavin Milloy earns 'Offensive Player of the Game' after a performance that was the bright spot of the Gryphon offence in a hard-fought loss. Taking over the starting running back role following the injury to
Isaiah Smith in the Gryphons Week 1 game, Milloy had a strong performance against a tough, physical Lancer defence. The Hamilton native carried the ball nine times, rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown. Milloy's score came late in the final frame when arts major broke through the Windsor front-seven and made an acrobatic dive for the pylon, scoring a 75-yard touchdown. Milloy finished the night averaging 12.7 yards per carry, more than doubling his average from the team's win against the Varsity Blues where he averaged 6.0 yards per carry.
Devynn Cromwell (Defence)

All-Canadian cornerback
Devynn Cromwell takes home 'Defensive Player of the Game' after producing one of the more impressive performances on the Gryphon defence. The fourth-year psychology major made a pair of tackles, but his most impactful plays came deflecting two Lancer passes. The pair of the Toronto native's plays in the passing game came in the second quarter, with the second pass break-up stopping a potential touchdown after a Windsor receiver began gaining separation above the Gryphon secondary. Cromwell's performance comes off of some strong defensive play in the Gryphons season-opener where earned 1.5 total tackles, including one for a 3-yard loss.
Kyle Simon-Guerin (Special Teams)
The Week 2 Gryphon 'Special Teams Player of the Game' is rookie defensive back
Kyle Simon-Guerin after the Brampton native made several impactful plays in both the kicking and return game.

Simon-Guerin, a sociology major joining the Gryphons out of St. James Secondary School, returned four kicks for the team (1 punt, 3 kickoffs) for a total of 96 yards, helping produce a strong starting point for the Gryphon offence. Simon-Guerin also totalled three solo tackles when on the field.
The Gryphons (1-1) will return to Alumni Stadium next week for the annual 'O-Week' game. The team will play host to the U SPORTS No. 6-ranked Laurier Golden Hawks (2-0) and will look to Milloy, Cromwell, and Simon-Guerin to continue their impactful play. Kickoff is set to take place at 1pm this weekend, on Saturday, September 9.
