GUELPH, Ont. - The University of Guelph Gryphons men's basketball team took the court at the Gryphons Athletics Centre on Saturday night (Feb. 11) and played hosted to the Windsor Lancers. The Gryphons came into Saturday's matchup coming off a playoff-clinching win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks the night before.

Unfortunately the visiting Lancers came to Guelph as one of the hottest teams in the OUA, and showed it, defeating the Gryphons 107-91.
In similar fashion to the women's match between the two schools, the Gryphons quickly found themselves down by a few possessions before battling back to make it a close game by the end of the opening quarter.
Dezayne Mingo would lead the Gryphons in the first half, scoring 16 of his 18 points in the first 20 minutes. Mingo would finish the night with 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal to go along with his point total. The second frame saw the visiting Lancers outscore Guelph 35-23 and shooting a staggering 72% from the field. Their impressive second quarter sent them into the locker room at halftime with a 56-43 lead. Windsor would come out in the third ready to put the game away, quickly extending their lead before the Gryphons would cut into it late in the quarter.
The third quarter Gryphon effort was led by
Emmanuel Ansah, who scored 10 of his team-high 20 points in the third. Ansah finished the game with 9 rebounds, and 3 assists to go along with his 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting. In the fourth and final quarter the Lancers outscored the Gryphons by four to put the game away and secure their 107-91 win.
The Gryphons (9-11) will look to end their regular season home schedule with a win when they host the Western mustangs next Wednesday (Feb.15). Tipoff is set for 8pm following the women's game with tickets available at
