BURLINGTON, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons football program was represented on Monday afternoon (Nov. 6), as Ontario University Athletics unveiled its OUA All-Rookie Team for the 2023 OUA football season. Freshman quarterback
Tristan Aboud was named to the OUA All-Rookie Team, continuing a streak of seven consecutive seasons in which a University of Guelph first-year student-athlete has been named to the OUA All-Rookie Team.
Tristan Aboud becomes the 20th Gryphon football player to be named to the OUA's All-Rookie Team, continuing a streak of seven straight season in which the Gryphons have one of the top rookies in the province.

For Aboud, a first-year student-athlete from Montreal, Quebec, the conference recognition comes following an impressive 2023 freshman season. At just 20-years-old,
Tristan Aboud quickly established himself as a reliable and capable leader in the Gryphon offence. The 6-foot-4 quarterback finished the 2023 season ranked among the OUA's best in several key statistical categories. Aboud ranked 3rd in pass efficiency (154.3), 3rd in completion percentage (69.6), 5th in passing touchdowns (10), 6th in passing yards (1451), and 7th in yards per game (181.4) by the end of his first regular season schedule. Throughout the 2023 season, Aboud showcased his arm talent and precision throwing the football, highlighted by a 16-for-16, 384 yard, 6 touchdown passing performance against the York Lions in an 88-7 win during Week 5 of the regular season. The management economics and finance major's performance set a new single-game program record for passing touchdowns, previously set by former quarterback Wally Gabler in the 1992 Yates Cup and tied in 2007 by Justin Dunk. Prior to attending the University of Guelph this season,
Tristan Aboud attended Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire where he led the Big Red to a 7-1 record in his senior season.
