TORONTO, Ont. - In a matchup of a pair of U SPORTS Top 10-ranked opponents, the No. 9-ranked Guelph Gryphons women's hockey team picked up a 1-0 win on Friday night (Nov. 10) at Varsity Arena against the No. 5-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
Jaime Magoffin was the game's lone goal scorer, with the third-year forward giving the Gryphons the lead late in the 2nd period, scoring on a breakaway to give the Gryphons a crucial 3-points for winning in regulation against their rivals from U of T.
Martina Fedel turned away 16 shots for the shutout, helping the Gryphons improve to 6-1-1 on the season, while the Varsity Blues fall to 4-0-3.
The Gryphons will right back on the ice again on Saturday afternoon to face another U SPORTS ranked opponent as they travel to the University of Waterloo to face the No. 10-ranke Warriors (5-0-2) with puck drop scheduled for 2pm at Columbia Icefield Arena.
