GUELPH, Ont. - Friday night (Sept. 30) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex, the No. 8-ranked Gryphons men's soccer team picked up a convincing 3-0 win over the Western Mustangs.
Peyton Ferdinand (36'),
Damian Truong (56') and Jack Searns (90') scored for the Gryphons, whose three goals equaled the total amount of goals conceded by Western in their first eight games of the 2022 regular season combined. The Mustangs fall to 5-2-2 on the season following Friday night's loss, while the Gryphons improve to 4-1-3 (wins-losses-draws). The Mustangs had posted six consecutive clean sheets coming into Friday night's matchup, but the Gryphons made a statement in what will be their only meeting with the Mustangs this season, barring a matchup in the playoffs. The Gryphons, ranked No. 8 in the latest U SPORTS polls, will now head to Waterloo on Sunday (Oct. 2) for a 4:15pm matchup with the Waterloo Warriors (2-4-1).
