GUELPH, Ont. – On Thursday, April 7, 2022, Ontario University Athletics released the 2022 football schedule. After playing a reduced six-game schedule in 2021, the 2022 OUA football season will see all 11 football programs from across the province return to a traditional eight-game regular season schedule, with Week 1 kicking off on the final Saturday in August.
The Gryphon football team will officially kickoff their 2022 season in 132 days, when they travel to London to face the defending Vanier Cup-champion Western Mustangs in the season-opener on Saturday, August 27, 2022. It marks the second consecutive season in which the Gryphons and Mustangs have met in the season opener, with Guelph winning 23-21 over the then No. 1-ranked Mustangs in last season's matchup in Guelph. The 2022 home opener for the Gryphons will take place on Labour Day Monday, when the Gryphons host the Windsor Lancers at Alumni Stadium, with a 1pm kickoff set for Monday, September 5. The annual Gryphon football homecoming game, one of the marquee events on the entire Canadian university athletics calendar, will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022 when the Queen's Gaels make the trip to the University of Guelph's Alumni Stadium.
2022 Gryphon football season tickets go on sale May 30, 2022, with fans able to purchase a $60 season ticket package, which allows fans to reserve the same seat for all four regular season home games.
