GUELPH, Ont. - Friday night (Oct. 14) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex, the Gryphons women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with the visiting Brock Badgers. Gryphons second-year forward,
Olivia Brown, continued her sensational sophomore season, equalizing in the 82nd minute of play to draw the Gryphons level. The goal was Brown's 9th of the season, tying her for 2nd in the OUA among the conference's top goal scorers. After a scoreless opening 45 minutes of play, the visiting Badgers opened the scoring early in the 2nd half on a goal from second-year midfielder Cerinna Toromoreno. But Brown's goal late in the 2nd half ensure the two teams would share the points, in what was an important matchup within the
OUA West Division standings. The Gryphons now sit at 6-2-2 on the season (wins-losses-draws), while Brock goes to 5-4-1. The Gryphons remain just two points back of Western for 1st-place in the division, with Brock four points back of Guelph.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon in St. Catharines, with kickoff set for 1pm. The Gryphons will then close out their regular season schedule on Friday, October 21 when they play host to the Windsor Lancers. The 2022 OUA women's soccer playoffs are now just 12 days away, with the opening round of playoff action set to get underway on Wednesday, October 26.
