GUELPH, Ont. – No matter what the Guelph Gryphons tried to do Saturday afternoon at the GGAC, it seemed as if the Brock Badgers had the answer every time.
Knowing they would be in tough against the No. 5 ranked team in the country, the Gryphons did everything they could to try and come away with a win in their final game before the holiday break, but the Badgers proved to be too much as Guelph fell 106-68.
Unfortunately for the Gryphs, the Badgers came out flying right from the opening tip. Generating a lead early, the visitors continued to add on throughout the game, despite Guelph's attempts to slow them down.
Leading by 10 after one quarter of play, the Badgers never seemed to let up en route to securing a perfect 7-0 record heading into 2022.
Offensively, the Gryphons shot 43.1% from the field, while having three players tally double-digit points. Leading the Gryphs,
Viktor Nausedas scored 15, while both
Felix Janusauskas and
Khalid Ismail each finished the game with 10 points. Tajinder Lall's 21 points for Brock led all scorers.
Securing six rebounds,
Malcolm Glanville led the Gryphons in that category, while
Keenan Dowell had a team-high six assists.
The Gryphons will now set their sights on the 2022 portion of their OUA regular season. Guelph will return to the court on January 14, 2022 when they play host to the Algoma Thunderbirds.
