BURLINGTON, Ont. - A year ago, Gryphons' All-Canadian kicker
Gabe Ferraro put together the greatest single-season ever by a kicker at the university level, connecting on a U SPORTS record 33 field goals. Now, back for his fifth and final season at U of G, the Mississauga native is off to yet another torrid start.
On Tuesday, Ferraro was named the OUA's Special Teams Player of the Week after an impressive performance in his team's 33-18 victory over the York Lions. The Leadership & Organizational Management major was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals against York, with makes of 29, 42, 29 and 47. Ferraro also averaged 41 yards per punt while pinning the Lions inside their own 20-yard line on three separate occasions.Â
Last season, Ferraro garnered OUA Special Teams Player of the Week honours on three separate occasions while also earning U SPORTS Special Teams Player of the Week honours on two occasions.
Joining Gabe as this week's OUA Players of the Week are Bryce Vieira (running back, Ottawa Gee-Gees) and Jamie Harry (defensive back, Ottawa Gee-Gees).
