GUELPH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons men's hockey team suffered a 3-0 loss on home ice Thursday night versus Lakehead (8-4-0-0). The Gryphons were unable to recover after a slow start that saw them trailing 3-0 after the opening period of play. The Thunderwolves opened the scoring with a power play goal from fifth-year forward Dylan Butler at 8:09 of the opening period. After Daniel Del Paggio pushed Lakehead's lead to 2-0 with his 6th of the season, the Thunderwolves would add a third in the final minute of the opening period with a goal from Sam Schutt. Gryphons goalie Andrew Masters turned away all 21 shots he faced after coming in for starter Evan Cormier after the 1st period (12 saves on 15 shots). The Gryphons outshot Lakehead 42-36 on the night, including 18-8 in the final period, but were shutout for the second time this season.
