WBB: Gryphons Fall on the Road versus No. 4-ranked Ravens

OTTAWA, Ont. – Friday night at Carleton University, the Gryphons women's basketball team suffered a 89-46 loss to the No. 4-ranked Carleton Ravens. Carleton jumped out to a 33-7 lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back. With the result, the Gryphons fall to 0-3 while the Ravens improve to 1-0.

Leading the way for Carleton in a dominant opening quarter was their 6-foot-3, fifth year senior Heather Lindsay who scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the opening quarter. Complimenting Lindsay's strong play in the post was some sharp shooting from the perimeter for the Ravens, who were 7-of-16 from beyond (43%) in the opening half.

After the shaky start to the game, the Gryphons would start to settle in, limiting the Ravens to 33 points total in the 2nd half. The Gryphons struggled to keep the Ravens off the glass and were out-rebounded 43-26 on the night.

The Gryphons were limited to 25% shooting as a team from the floor, with rookie Burke Bechard leading all U of G players in scoring with 9 points, all of which came in the final quarter of play.

The Gryphons will wrap up their two-day weekend trip to the nation's capital with a Saturday night matchup with the Ottawa Gee-Gees, who are sitting at 1-0 on the season after a win over Algoma in their season opener on Friday night. The Gryphons and Gee-Gees will tip off at Ottawa's Montpetit Hall Saturday at 6pm.
