Fourth year kicker
Gabe Ferraro earned the title of U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian after an unforgettable 2017 season that saw him set a new U SPORTS single-season record with 33 made field goals (shattering the previous national record of 26 held by his older brother and former Gryphon, Daniel). This marks the second time in Gabe's career that he has been named an All-Canadian, as the Mississauga native was also named a Second Team All-Canadian in 2015. Gabe's outstanding 2017 campaign saw him set a new school record for most points in a season (126) while also surpassing Rob Maver for the school record for field goals in a career (69).
The other Gryphon to garner First Team All-Canadian honours in 2017 is fourth year offensive lineman
Andrew Pickett. Pickett, who has also earned OUA All-Star status for each of the last three years, now earns himself the title of All-Canadian for the first time in his Gryphon career. The Kitchener native, who back in August was ranked No. 13 on the CFL Scouting Bureau List, helped anchor a Gryphon offensive line that helped the Gryphons finish 4th in the OUA in rushing (1,524 yds).
Senior receiver
Jacob Scarfone was named a Second Team All-Canadian for the second time in his career after having also accomplished the feat during the 2015 season. After missing the entire 2016 season due to injury, Scarfone was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the 2017 CFL Draft in May, and in August, returned to U of G for his final season as a Gryphon, leading the team in receptions (37), receiving yards (634) and touchdown receptions (5). Scarfone finishes his U of G career 7th on the school's all-time list for career receiving yards with 1,703.
