TORONTO, Ont. – Saturday night at the Tait McKenzie Centre on the campus of York University, the Gryphons men's volleyball team suffered straight sets loss to the York Lions. Set scores were 25-23, 25-17 & 25-20. With the result, the Gryphons fall to 3-4 on the season while York improves to 4-1.
The Gryphons struggled in attack, finishing the night with a season-low .051 hitting percentage. One bright spot for the Gryphons on Friday night was the return of 2016 Second Team All-Canadian
Kendrick Kerr. The fourth year middle blocker from Georgetown had missed the team's first six matches of the season after suffering a knee injury during a preseason practice. The 6-foot-6 Georgetown native finished with a team-high 6.5 points in his return to the lineup.
The Gryphons (3-4) will be right back on the court on Saturday night in North Bay as they close out a four-game road trip with a matchup against the Nipissing Lakers. Game time is set for 8pm and can be seen live online at oua.tv. The Gryphons' next home match is set for Friday, November 24 when they will host the No. 5-ranked Ryerson Rams (5-0).
