GUELPH, ON - Friday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex, the Gryphons women's soccer team improved to 7-2-3 (wins-losses-draws) thanks to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Waterloo Warriors (0-10-2).
Third year midfielder
Andrea Cimino (London, ON) scored her first goal of the season in the 53rd minute to give the Gryphons a 1-0 lead.
Ann-Carolyn Lang scored in the 81st minute to secure the three points for U of G. For Lang, it marked her second goal of the season, both of which have come versus the Warriors after she also scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Waterloo back on September 4th. Gryphons keeper
Libby Brenneman recorded her sixth shutout of the season.
The Gryphons now own the longest current win streak in the nine team OUA West with four straight victories. Up next, a trip to York University on Wednesday, October 12 to face the No. 5-ranked Lions (9-0-3). The last time these two teams met, the Gryphons were able to take a point off of the Lions thanks to a scoreless draw back on September 18th at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff on Wednesday night at York is scheduled for 6pm.
