ST. CATHARINES, ON – Wednesday night in St. Catharines, the Gryphons men's basketball team lost 83-49 to the No. 5-ranked Brock Badgers. With the loss, the Gryphons fall to 4-6 on the season while the Badgers improve to 9-2.
A big second quarter by the Badgers, in which they outscored Guelph 23-10, helped them open up a 19-point lead at the half. That lead would grow in the third quarter as the Badgers outscored the Gryphons 24-14 to take a 29-point lead into the fourth. Nothing was falling offensively for the Gryphons on Wednesday as they finished the night just 1-for-21 from beyond the arc and shot 23% (17-74) from the floor as a team.
Despite the loss, the Gryphons will look to get back into the win column on Saturday, January 30 when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie to face the Algoma Thunderbirds (1-10). That game is scheduled to tip at 4pm.
