Kingston, ON – The Gryphons Men's Rugby team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 32-8 victory over the RMC Paladins on Saturday afternoon in Kingston.
In cold and wet conditions the match got off to a sloppy and slow start. However, as a result of some hard work from their forwards, led by
Jeremy Wright (Fenelon Falls, ON) who was constantly putting his side on the front foot, the Gryphons were able to take control early on. Thanks to tries from
Eric Howard,
Stephen Seccareccia and
Eric Charest-Pekeski, the Gryphons took a 17-3 lead into the half.
In the second half, the Gryphons were able to utilize their bench and get a number of players involved in the match. Second year centre
Jordan Hofstra (Guelph, ON) was a threat every time he touched the ball and led the way for the Gryphons in the second half as the Gryphons would go on to win it 32-8.
The Gryphons Men's Rugby team will be in action again on Friday, September 18 when they travel to Waterloo to face the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-1).
