Guelph, ON - The Guelph Gryphon soccer teams will be hosting the 13
th Annual Baden Klein Cup for Charity on
Wednesday, August 26th, 2015. The Gryphons will host the Ryerson Rams with the women kicking the event off at 4:00 p.m. and the men at 6:15 p.m. The games will be played at the Gryphon Soccer Complex, University of Guelph. Entrance to the game is free but we will have a donation box available for your convenience.
For the past thirteen years, the Gryphon men's soccer head coach,
Keith Mason has organized the event for his nephew, Baden who was diagnosed with a severe immune deficiency disorder; Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome (WAS) at two months of age.
Their will be raffles, door prizes and a barbeque with all the money raised going to help make the fight a little easier for families and children in need during a health crises. All proceeds from the event will go to the CI Society Alastair Fund charity. Established in 1999, the CI Society provides patient support, education and research for a cure for Primary Immunodeficiency Disease (an umbrella term for defects in the immune system which infants are born with). The event is also a day of celebration for the many kids, with our help, that will go on to live normal active lives and that is truly worth celebrating.
Baden Thomas Klein has fought tremendous odds. WAS affects only one in four-million boys and is a genetic disorder that passes from mother to son. WAS causes recurrent infections, low platelets and a number of other problems? Left untreated, boys with WAS do not reach adulthood.
