MSCR: Springer, Danielli & Kotsopoulos Named OUA West Division All-Stars

Burlington, ON - On Wednesday, November 4 the OUA announced its major award winners and All-Stars for Men's Soccer with a total of three Gryphons receiving recognition. Team Captain and fourth year centre back Justin Springer (Burlington, ON) was the lone Gryphon to be selected as a First Team All-Star after a tremendous 2015 season. Springer started in all 16 games for the Gryphons and was once again the heart and soul of the Gryphon back four. Aside from leading the way defensively, Springer also contributed on the attack, serving as an aerial threat of set pieces, scoring two goals during the regular season and adding two more in the postseason after scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Western in the opening round of playoffs. For Springer, who is set to return for his fifth and final season in 2016, this marks the fourth time in as many years that he has been named an OUA West First Team All-Star.

Like Springer, Ethan Danielli is a fourth year All-Star set to return for his fifth and final year in 2016. Danielli earns OUA Second-Team honours in 2015 after his best season in Gryphon colours. The Guelph native provided excellent service in both open play and on set pieces this season, while also finishing in a tie for 3rd on the squad in scoring with three goals during the regular season. Rounding out the Gryphons OUA All-Star selections is rookie striker Jace Kotsopoulos. The Burlington native burst onto the scene in 2015 in his first year in the OUA, scoring a team-high 11 goals - putting him in a tie for 4th in the CIS amongst the country's leading scorers.

All three of these players will be taking part in the 2016 CIS Championships for Men's Soccer as the Gryphons are set to play host to the national championship tournament next November.
