Box Score
Hamilton, ON - The road trip back from Hamilton will sting for the Guelph Gryphons women's basketball team. The Gryphons entered the day in first place in the OUA's Central Division after a 5-1 start but were handed a humbling 81-58 loss by the host McMaster Marauders at the Burridge Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Fifth-year forward Kate MacTavish led the Gryphons with 14 points and 10 rebounds, both team highs. Bridget Atkinson added 11 points, four assists and three steals, while fellow guard Barbara Inrig-Pieterse had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and a game-high four steals.

Guelph (5-2) was in a hole early after McMaster jumped out to a 24-15 lead after the first quarter before eventually heading into the half up double-digits at 41-30.
Guelph had no answer for Mac's Clare Kenney, who scored eight of her 15 points in the lopsided opening quarter, before finishing with 17 points and a game-high 15 boards, including 10 on the defensive glass.

It didn't get better in the second half as McMaster went on a 7-0 run to start the third quarter for a 48-30 lead. Guelph's Dana Van Balkom eventually snapped the Guelph scoring drought with a three-pointer at the 5:57 mark. Atkinson had the Gryphons' first four points of the fourth quarter but the outcome was already decided.
